What files beside msxboxdash.xbe, memory2.xip and default.xbe belongs to ms dashboard 4034 or is there an installer for MS dash that I can use?

Problem With Dvd Remote Controll
« Reply #18 on: May 29, 2003, 07:56:00 AM »

So here is what I have fugured out.

I have tried both Superdisc 3.5, 3.5.1 and Slayer Evox-Installer 2.1. All with clean istallation.
I have then copied the 3 filed from Slayer 2.0 in the 4034 msxboxdash folder to my xbox root directory C:
I have edited the evox.ini to start dvd with msxboxdash.xbe in the root directory.
I have then rebooted my xbox and patched the msxboxdashboard, it says if finds a 4034 Ms dash and says it patches it okey. Then I reboot again.
And now I have tried to start the DVD, evolutionx dash says "loading" and then the screen just becomes black, no nothing.
I have tried the Enigma Video mode swither to switch between NTSC and PAL, not making any differents. ARRRgghh.
If I use DVDX-V2 it works but not with DVDX1.0 that I want, need to use.

What could be wrong 3 different installation aways the same outcome.

From the look of your folder structure, you have an updated dashboard (or at least the files are) which contain the Live software (V4920). Now, you said you recopied the three files into the root so your dash now is back to 4034. This is almost right, as the DVDX1 won't work with dashes greater than 4034 -it only works on xbox V1 which is either 3944 or 4034. Now, you run DVDX1 to patch the 4034 dash, right? You supposedly now have a patched 4034 dash which should play DVD movies from any region but gives you a blank screen instead. The reason is that , yes, the orig 4034 dashboard only needed those other two files to function correctly but to support DVD playback, some files are needed which you are obviously missing. One file is called dvd.xip which should be located in the root folder but is now in C:\xboxdashdata.10027100\. The orig 4034 dash expects it to be in the root drive and not anywhere else. If you have a backup of your orig files, I suggest you FTP it over to the new drive and re-patch the dash -you only need to run DVDX1 once.

Yippieee, James_row you are exactlly correct.
Just solved it before you posted. To bad you did not post erlier you could have saved me a cuppla hours time.
But I also included all the settings*.* files to be able to acces settings menu,  plus the dvd.xip.

Yayee, But I can say one thing, I think Superdisc 3.5.1 is much better then Slayers Evox-Installer 2.1.

If you use superdisc you dont need to download any thing other then the MS dashfiles, all other files is included whith are included in Slayer 2.0.

biggrin.gif As i stated before in my post, i used slayers installer, and therefore it was simple to get it to work. I must have forgot that slayers 2.1 comes with a Live patched dashboard, but that shouldnt have matter, since youre were replacing it anyways.

But in the future you dont need these superdisc/slayers etc. Just put in new versions of applications when they come out.
