Problem With Dvd Remote Controll

I'm pretty sure the remote simply doesn't work with the current version of DVD-X.

Try to dig-up DVDX1 somewhere, or you can insert the DVD, and click the link to the MS Dash.

Sorry to tell you this, but the whole point of dvdx was that it didn't use the dvd kit......

You can try and get hold of a region 1 dongle which will work, you will just need to change to ntsc with the enigmah video mode selector to play region 1 and then change back to pal and change the dongle for region 2.

i think there is a way to patch the msdashboard so it plays all region.. i think that would be your ticket to region free freedom.

tested and working on PAL xbox with ONLY PAL dongle*

*whats tested:
Plays region 1 DVD dvd`s,on my PAL xbox, the PAL dongle works as normal, no need for 2 types of dongles*

Ok, this is what ive done. (
(on HD prepared with slayer auto-installer)

STEP#1:

ok, download dvd-x 1.0 (dont know if i can post the link to it here)
and store the folder on youre XBOX
example: /F:/Apps/dvdx1.0

Open youre evox.ini and find:
}
Item "Xbox Media Player - XBMP","c:\evoxdash.xbe"
Item "XboX Gentoo LINUX - Self Add-On","e:\gentooxx.xbe"
Item "Power OFF Xbox",@10
Section "System Management"
{

Change it to:
}
Item "Xbox Media Player - XBMP","c:\evoxdash.xbe"
Item "DVD-X 1.0","F:\Apps\dvdx1.0\default.xbe"
Item "XboX Gentoo LINUX - Self Add-On","e:\gentooxx.xbe"
Item "Power OFF Xbox",@10
Section "System Management"
{

STEP#2:

(if you have xbox version 1.0 you can skip this)
In xbox versions 1.1 with a m$ dash kernel 4817, you have to change your m$ dash to a xbox 1.0 version.

Get hold of dash "4034" (all 3 files:default.xip,msxboxdash.xbe,memory2.xip)
And store it on your PC

(I found this dash in slayers auto-installer 2.0, i havent looked in auto-installer 2.1 yet)

Ok, youve got the dash. Now FTP into xbox and c: , then rename these 3 files in c:

from:
default.xip
msxboxdash.xbe
memory2.xip
to:
default.xip.ORIGINAL-XBOX_DASH
msxboxdash.xbe.ORIGINAL-XBOX_DASH
memory2.xip.ORIGINAL-XBOX_DASH

After this, find the 4034 folder on your pc, FTP the 3 files to xbox partition c:

STEP #3
Reboot xbox, and in evox menu you will find "DVD-X 1.0".
Select it, and DVD-X will patch your installed 4034 dash.

(If this line is in a different colour, and your not able to "click" on it, check evox.ini and make sure :
Item "DVD-X 1.0","F:\APPS\DVDX1.0\DEFAULT.XBE" point to the right location where you stored the "dvdx1.0" folder on the xbox. )

you only need to do this once.
if it patches correctly, it will say so. Else you get the message that it cant be patched. Then make sure you are using the 4034 dash, the only one i could patch.
you can do this by going to m$ dash from evox menu, then go to settings,system info. Look for 4034 at the bottom of the scrolling text.

end note:
make sure evox.ini points to MSDashBoard = "c:\msxboxdash.xbe"

Doing things this way you can easily recover if you do something wrong.

QUOTE (NorthenderT @ May 27 2003, 10:41 PM)
Didnt work, Did exactly as you wrote, in the end I got a message that DVD-X 1.0 found a correct dashboard. It then patched it, but after that when I insert a dvd it only comes up a screen saying that DVD-X 1.0 does find any patcheble or allready patched dashboard. How do I start the DVD?

Not sure what youre saying here. If you even have done it incorrectly, you wouldnt get that message when u pop in  a dvd. You wouldnt get any error message from dvdx 1.0.

the only time you get the " after that when I insert a dvd it only comes up a screen saying that DVD-X 1.0 does find any patcheble or allready patched dashboard"

is when u run the dvdx. 1.0.     solution: you dont have the original m$ dash number 4034 that u patched.

BUT u say that it was patched succsesfully, that makes me think that youre trying to run dvdx 1.0 before u put in the DVD. DON`T do that, The original m$ dash 4034 has been patched so u dont need dvdx1.0 anymore. Just go to youre new m$ dash and run the dvd.

just make sure youre evox.ini points to msxboxdash.xbe.

my evox.ini:

AutoLaunchGames   = yes
AutoLaunchDVD   = yes
DVDPlayer   = "c:\msxboxdash.xbe"
AutoLaunchAudio   = Yes
#AudioPlayer   = "c:\msxboxdash.xbe"

Sounds like both of you need to reinstall your xbox dashes. When upgrading slayers puts in a different dash (error 21).
If you backed up just ftp back the dash. If not you'll have to look for it or get it from slayer 2.0.

I suggest you do a complete reinstall from slayers disc. That should solve all problems.

Ok, you found the 4034 dash in slayers 2.0, and found the 3 files:

default.xip
msxboxdash.xbe
memory2.xip

Did u rename tose existing files in your partition c:\

to:
default.xip.ORIGINAL-XBOX_DASH
msxboxdash.xbe.ORIGINAL-XBOX_DASH
memory2.xip.ORIGINAL-XBOX_DASH

before you transfered the files from the  m$ dash 4034 folder?

And make sure youre evox.ini points to msxboxdash.xbe

If u did this, i dont know what the problem can be. Because ive never used superdisc.

You should have installed the 4034 dash by doing this.

But if you have trouble even getting to m$ dash, you could delete the
files you transfered to c:\ partition. And rename  back the original3 files.

default.xip.ORIGINAL-XBOX_DASH
msxboxdash.xbe.ORIGINAL-XBOX_DASH
memory2.xip.ORIGINAL-XBOX_DASH

ok, this is weird. I have no clue whats going on.

Ofcourse you know that renaming the files, is just a measure to keep your original files intact, so you can go back in case of trouble.

i have those 3 files in root of partition c:\

but you can try to put the files from m$ dash 4034, in the same place you find your current
default.xip
msxboxdash.xbe
memory2.xip

just remember to rename the current files, so you can go back in case of trouble.

but you said :
"default.xip" and "memory2.xip" is not located in the root of "C:\"
they where located in a folder called "C:\xboxdashdata.10027100"

that doesnt sound right to  me, but then ive never used superdisc.

Maybe you should create a topic like "superdisc help" in this forum, but i always thought those 3 files should be in the root of c:\
