sorry for the smatarse reply earlier
Here is a solution that works,
A while ago I wanted to do the control pad power on/off mod. but didn't like the idea that much.
So after some thought I dragged an old car alarm kit out of my junk cupboard & stripped it down, (put new batteries in the remotes). NOTE: circuit boards and relays on some car alarms can be too big for the original xbox case, I have a minitower mod, so it wasn't a concern for me.
Power supply to allarm is 12V (no prob, tap into the Xbox HDD molex).
located central door locking relay, and parallel wired the xbox on/off switch wires to either side of the relay switch contacts. BIngo, job done, the remote is so small it fits (squishes) in the memory
card solt of the xbox controller.
My mod was for the power switch, but as the xbox switch for the eject is the same (push on, momentary) then it would work the same as a remote eject switch.
Btw, most car allarms these days have 2 buttons, so you could kill both birds, check eBay for a cheap allarm system that nobody want becase it it easiy to break into, they are cheap as chips.

Check out the fucking state of my PC room, fark me, I didn't realise the mess untill seen in the photo.
