We Need A Password Protect
« on: April 26, 2003, 01:48:00 PM »

biggrin.gif )when I'm not there.

Is there an implemented password protect type thing in EvoX?  For example, you start it up, and before you get to the dashboard it asks for a password; if you give the wrong password it turns the system off.

That would be essential for the user in my shoes.  Is there anything like that available?

Thanks

I'm going to be living in a dorm, and I'm nervous that people might try to get their little dirty hands on my baby (xbox  biggrin.gif )when I'm not there.

MXM has that. I don't know if any other dashboard features that capability....

I put that into Media X Menu several months ago.

Crap... I don't use MXM and I don't ever plan to.

EvoX's next release should have that!

That's really a shame. MXM is certainly the nicest looking of the bunch (and fully dashboardable with 0.9i)

The new release (0.9i) is today. There's no reason why you can't run Evo-X,  Avalaunch and others as secondary utility applications.

The skins I alone have planned wil blow away anything you've seen yet among the dashboards, and many others will be creating skins as well.

MXM is the nicest looking one indeed.

I don't see any reason why you shouldn't at least give it a try.

Love to see 0.9i BJ

I can hardly wait to try it out  biggrin.gif
Hope it lets itself be fully modified  cool.gif

Oh yeah.... it's now out at "The Usual Places"

I didn't check it, but I think you can also password protect whole submenus (I coded it that way, but I only tested passcoded items).

Everything is modifiable. You can make strings, images, and boxes shake, shiver, color shift and flicker. Lots of goodies.

Will give it a try this evening (Got a headache@ the moment  sad.gif going to do some  sleeping.gif for a while)

I'm rather curious though..

What would be the best way to create animations for the background?
I gave 3D Studio MAX a try but me resulting animations are to amaturistic (tried some 'robot arms' like in standard xbox dash)

I found info on software called 'winimages' which I believe would give great results but I failed to find a shareware or even a 'shareware *ugh*ugh*' version of it.

Maybe someone can give some hints on where to start.

Finding decent ready to use backgroundvideos is very difficult (i.e. I looked al over the internet for a decent HQ plasma animation)

You could always whip up a password program with the XDK, name it evoxdash.xbe, or xboxdash.xbe, when the correct password is entered, the program will launch 'realevoxdash.xbe' - you should get the idea  When the wrong pass is entered the box gets turned off

i like this idea. someone get on it!  cool.gif please  smile.gif
