I dont understand why everyone thinks evox is so great. Ive since changed everything over to xbmp. Now i can do absolutely everything from one program. IGR you might say but bioses do a much better job of that anyway.

Just curious, defend your dashboard

i dont think u can update your bios from xbmp!

1. who updates their bios on a daily basis? or monthly even. I can burn a cdrw for that

2. no autoadd? im afraid it does. You have to put an entry like this in the applications section of the config.ini file

bookmark "My Games": Autoadd items ( f:games )

or make a shortcut file. Takes 10 seconds

u cant view ur cpu temp from xbmp

To be honest, haven't had the time to test all of what XBMP can do, I am still jived about Shoutcast.. so never thought of making it my dash.. may do that one day when I have some free time.. and with the way my work, and economy in general is, may be sooner than later.

You assume it's for a nice interface.
It isn't,  Evox is there to get the job done.
Its ftp server works fine, it launches games fine, its auto-add works fine.
Why switch, when you don't need to?
This is like trying to argue about Window Managers, they all get the job done.
You might like KDE, I'll stick with twm and CDE.

Now all we need is a mini-xbe format that is compatible between a dashes, and designed to run in their own threads...cheap way to have "multi-tasking" without having to compile them in.
I guess we won't see it happen anytime soon.  unsure.gif

hard to freeze when you only use it for 3 seconds while your trying to find a better application.

Face it, evox is downright ugly for a program whos main function is to provide a nice interface for launching other applications. Yay, i can change the background image and the menu colors! Why havn't they incorporated better skinning capabilities in it yet?

I'm still waiting for a good argument as to why evox is so great

ya, i wouldn't know where to begin coding something like it but it's a far cry from what xbmp is

actually, I can have evox on for a week straight, it doesn't matter.  FTP up, down, run games and apps, return, switch menus as fast as I can push the buttons, unplug/plug in network cable all damn day and it'll never freeze.  Try saying that about XBMP.

Don't get me wrong, I use it alot, and it is a great program.  My intent is not to bash XBMP, just say that it is better suited for its real purpose, playing media.

Blah, Blah, skins and pictures.  Yes of course it would be cool to have all that in Evox, but I'll take stability and functionality over bugs on a console any day.

MXM is, to me, capable of looking even better than XBMP if you take a little time with it, but I'm still not gonna run out and dump evox until it has the same sort of functionality.
