Evolutionx Dashboard Beta Build 3682
« on: March 22, 2003, 02:07:00 PM »

Yeah.... I'm disappointed.

The "Screen Saver" is, well, bleh. At the very least they could have stolen my MXM screen saver!! Geez, I open source and everything, and well... :::sigh:::

Not even sound or music support.

All in all a boring, unremarkable release.

OMG, debug BIOS FTP support still isn't fixed... that's like the most important fix possible...

Team Xecuter will most likely have debug bios support in their next release, and that means EvoX will be totally unusable...  mad.gif

Looking forward to Team Xecuters next release. They said 'a couple of days' over a month ago. I can't wait, as I thought their previous alpha showed a lot of promise. This new release of evoX hasn't really done it for me...

Dont get me wrong, I think it's great and all, and I enjoy following the evolution of evolution X (huh?), but I'm looking for something to something a bit different to use as my dash instead of evo and xbmp.

Screensaver's a good feature regardless of what they used for it, because I think my default evox skin is starting to burn a hole in my tv! (tidy trax lasers)

At the end of the day, it's still the most useful dash there is, and it's here, now.

Just wish they would open source it to let others improve on their work.

The readme.txt does not have the new ID short commands for:

Item "Networking",@6
Item "Hard Disk",@7

Anyone figured them out?

(e.g. ID_Network or ID_Hard_Disk)

I run of dvd-rw, so it would be painful for me to try and "guess"  blink.gif

Yes, it is currently the most useful.... but that will change in the next two months or so.

The neXgen team hasn't been sitting idly by, AFAIK, just avoiding the hype that caused way too many expectations and rushed a very nice looking product.

It's a shame the Evo-X guys couldn't see fit to open source their stuff. I've asked them to do that for ages now, but I've faced the fact that I just had to make my own journey of discovery when it came to the mysteries of launching/handling software on the Xbox.

this new version does not take care of the new games that have moved game flags right?

wish they could have done that part ..

for the 2nd media check (moved flag) does it HAVE to be a bios that will fix this issue (hopefully) without needing to do physical patch or COULD a dashboard do it?

no big deal.. but one less step  lol

It's great to see the guys over at Evolution-X are still alive, but this release still leaves much to be desired. Props on the temp monitor though.

yeah still waiting for nexgen. 4 months later

You guys seem pretty damn ungreatful. If I asked everyone on this site what they use i reckon > 95% would say evo-x dash.

Who cares about sound and flashy colours etc. It does what it is advertised to do and it does it well.

Props to the Evo-X team for releasing another update on a very very fine product.

These items don't work anymore... Since you can do everything through "Settings", I guess they got rid of them...

Item "Networking",@6
Item "Hard Disk",@7

Holy shiite. My CPU is 106 Degrees Farenheit after being powered on for the first time today... I have a V1.0 with both fans... I guess that is comparable to any 733mhz Pentium Processor, but it still seems high!

Well, i seem to think that this release is really good.

The IGR is WAY better, the temp feature is nice, not many new features, but some nice advancements.

Here is what i think should be added in future realeases:
-password protect
-background music
-better skining
-HDTV support (ie. 16x9, 1080i resulutions)

Props to all at evox, great product.
