HEY!!!

I love everyone of these ideas!! Though I fee that erickpro has a point about it being more a pc, but then having ICQ on my xbox whilst playing Halo or PGR, and SC would be "off da hook"
Thats would be the shit for real!!! and The other post about a burner? thats a good one as well.
My fav is the password protected one!! that would be ideal! for me stop my sister and my brotha messing with my settings!!

How about a plugin system? You could code a plugin yourself, and add 'em to the EvoX dash at your leasure. For example, someone could make a plugin that displays the time on the upper corner of the screen, or for background music/sound effects, etc. It'd be cool, considering the fact that the EvoX guys update the dash sparingly.

QUOTE (sharky98 @ Mar 20 2003, 12:34 PM)
erickpro is right.. It is afterall just a gaming console.. I initally started this thread to see what kinds of ideas are floating around to see what was possible with Evox.. I was looking for practical ideas - Screen Saver or dimmer, Passwords, etc...

Sound or Video would be nice but not that practical, I mean the xbox/Evox would work regardless of sound or video's in the menu's..

Hey I don't want the moon, I just want the simple things...   smile.gif

That's why I suggested the plugin idea; the EvoX Team wouldn't have to code any more features by themselves, theoretically. If the userbase wants it, someone codes it, therefore giving the EvoX Team more time to implement more useful ideas, like a new feature in their next BIOS release.

Ok thanks for clearing that up (and exposing my lack of in-depth knowledge on the subject)

So chuck FTP out the window then, but it would be nice if a straight network share of some sort (might even require software on the PC to set this up properly) to access PC drives, my main use would be for media player to acesss PC's divX, Mp3 etc, but obviously this still has the problem you mentioned of the share disappearing when XBMP loads. (could this be fixed in a BIOS?)

Oh well

i honestly dont get what you have against using media players inbuilt networking capabilities. even if evox were to work out a way to implement a persistant network connection it would most likely still need configuring, presumably along the same lines as xbmp
