1wolf1,
thank you for your reply, this is what I have done. but when I put that cdrw into the xbox dvd dr is not boot at all???

Burn ISOs with Nero (v0.1)
Tutorial written by : XanTium

Nero can be used to burn CD-RWs , but newer versions of Nero will also allow to burn DVD-R/RWs.

Start Nero.
Select "Recorder" > "Choose Recorder"

Select the burner you want to use ... and click "OK".

Now go to "File" > "Burn Image"

Browse your HD and select the .iso file , then press "Open".
Althought normal iso's work , it's still better to use the "real" xbox format. You can read here how to make a xiso file

Select "Write" and "Finalize CD".
Don't put "Write Speed" too high ... max 2x (or 4x if you have a quality burner) for CD-RW and 1x for DVD-R/RW.
If you installed a PC DVD-ROM in your xbox you can burn at full speed ofcourse.

Nero will start burning .... leave your PC alone till the CD/DVD is fully burned.

SlaYer,

I have to say you have come up with the goods on this one. I'd also like to thank the FileTopia guys too as Newsfeeds and my ISP's news servers were only getting fragmented parts.

Well not only did V2 arrive this morning but my Matrix did too. Within 30 minutes the LPC holes were soldered, D.6 Red was flashed, Matrixed was fitted, existing drive was backup up, Maxtor 120Gb was installed.

Stunning piece of work, keep it up.

QUOTE (vokal4 @ Jan 11 2003, 02:43 PM)
just a possibility, dont you (1wolf1) think you'd be better off skimming this prog without all the bs shit like homebrew apps? just my thought. u shud consider minimizing all the useless crap in it will keeping all the features. overall its a good app, nice job

Well, vokal4, I designed this to be a simple click and install your whole xbox toolkit.  If I remove functionality or Apps, do you really think that all these people that can't even find it would be capable to installing the apps on their own?  All they would be left with would be a large HD with no tools or software.

The apps I chose were very carefully selected to give all around best functionality, and they are the latest releases 2.

The size of the installer is goverened by the size of all the M$ crap I was forced to include.  The apps are about 5 MB worth compressed.  If I did not discover the trick in incorporating multiple M$ dasboards with a space penalty of only 5MB compresses for any additional ones this installer would have weighed in at about 450Mb

Lastly, since it's "open" software, feel free to strip it down for your use, but I bet you anything that you'll keep it just the way it is laugh.gif

Thank you for your post swerver69 & every other satisfied user.  It makes me very happy to know that I've helped out.

I do have a request for all happy people out there that have come to realize how important this installer is:

PLEASE e-mail XanTium, who posts all the news on the main page of xbox-scene.com and ask him to post news about this installer as well as a link back to this thread.  I have seen countless posts with problems that would not exist if everyone would use my installer from the start.  It will save eveyone a lot of grief to be aware of this tool.

Thank you all!

2. I have a folder named backup with all 5 backup files in it from my old HDD.

3. An EvolutionX beta 1.8.2594.nfo file

4. A default.xbe file

5. A folder named Bios with Evox2.4 in it.

6. A folder named Skin with folders containing skins inside.

These are all the files and folders that I put inside one big folder that I converted to an xISO format using th xISO program.

I burned the xISO onto a Memorex CDRW at 4x( these disks worked on the old HDD with slayers evox).

My Xbox's power button is broken, so to boot up my Xbox I must tap the eject button once to turn on the power, and then a second time to re-insert the disk tray with the boot disk inside.

When the Xbox starts up with the disk in the drive it reads it for a few seconds and then goes to an error 07 screen every time.

I am using a Matrix with evox2.4 bios, and I have the switches set to always on mode. While swapping the HDD must they be in swap mode? I tried it in swap mode but no luck.

Please I need help ohmy.gif

OK, first of all DO NOT USE THAT "Evox.ini" you list above!!!!

That file is the default that comes with EvoX!  It will just wipe your xbox and leave you wistling in the wind.

My installer ISO is in XDFS format which is optimal and the same format Xbox games come in.  However, if you want to burn your own files in the alternate UDF format, just grab XISO (see xbox-scene downloads) and open the SlaYer's EvoX Auto-Installer v2.0.ISO file.  Extract all the files (170MB) to an empty folder and then burn all the files with RecordNow Max or suimmilar tool that can burn UDF 128 & 8.3 Closed.

Boot with that disk and it should work.

Good luck!

Does anyone know if there is a problem with this installer and 120 gig hd's?

I  read that there may be

Wolf can you explain how your installer decides how to partition the drive????
Thanks for all you help and support!!!!!  smile.gif

There is NO problem with this installer and ANY size Drive!

Facts:

1) Xbox Hardware Limitation 137GB Max HD Space (uses ATA33)

2) If using an upgraded HD choose Option 3 (REBUILD NEW LARGE HD on V1.X SYSTEM).  F: drive will be created and apps copied there. All done!

3) Samsung HD's Suck.  They have lots of problems and come from factory jumpered for 33MB or so.

4) Dell Promotional WD OEM 120GB HD's cannot be locked!

5) Other HD's from several vendors reported locking problems.

6) WD 120GB 8MB Cache work like a dream (running one myself!)

Good luck!

The error 07 is a HHD timeout, because you either have a jumper on the drive set wrong  or maybe a damaged cable.
since the medea that did boot before if i read it right with the orignal HHD. now with a new 120 Gig drive wont boot.

If jumpered wrong both the DVD and the HHD are trying to set who is (0) and who is (1) on the cable. if they cant the OS in the xbox will give up trying and return error 07 HHD timeout. look at the jumpers and make sure it is set to a master or master with slave if it has that option, do not use cable select or slave. some drives require 2 jumpers and some require just 1 jumper. new drives should have a diagram on the lable of the drive as to what to jump for master.

hope this helps, if you put the orignal drive back in will it boot to evox? if not check your chip alignment.
