Well to be totally honest I think they are right.

If ms fixes the bug that made it so easy to hack the v1.1 bios it might very well take along time to hack the next version.

By releasing 2 bios version for the X-Ecutor 2 they were simply trying to avoid ms catching on to the fact that there was a bug that made it easy to do.

However now that the Evox team has let the cat out of the bag who knows how long it'll take next time.

Exactly. I'd seen hints about this trick over at the lengthy discussions on xboxhacker.net, and oddly, people went silent when others tried to figure it out.

It would be a shame if M$ closes the loophole early because of the Evo-X release.

do you guys honestly think m$ was going to release the same basic structure for the next xbox since the first two were cracked so easy???  even if they didn't know about the security hole, which i'm sure they already did, they would have found out sooner or later anyway.  what's the big deal, the great xbox crackers will just find a new way to crack the next version of xbox, so what if it doesn't happen in 2 days.  relax, everything will work out okay.   beerchug.gif

listen,
the pogo pins were added so people like you wouldent cry that the matrix is better wahh wahh because its no solder,  i have been in close contact with the xecuter team throughtout the development of the xecuter line of chips, and they are not the biggest fans of pogo pins by any means.

Xecuter are the new innovators, the rest have to steal code to catch up.

Amauters? thats very funny that you would call xecuter amauters when you use a matrix, and their the same people that tried to brag about using 50+ components in their modchip.

using 50+ components to do the same thing that 8 can do is not efficient at all and shows the skill of the team working on the mod.

So you made not one valid point.

I think you misunderstood me, my post was about nobody says nothing about the dashboard, or things like oh you copiers, I mean did evolution-x say anything about your dash? no

So you shouldn't do it either, thats all i'm saying

Not saying that you are copiers + what Troll123 says is true, I mean I have a Xodus and a xecuter one on top of another, each one has the newest bios for each release, who wins evo or xec ?

The answer is simple, me the user.

And ms does bitch at linus for making another OS, im sure they don't want to lose their market places that took them so many years to get.

I'm pretty sure there are alot of meetings at ms just to sit down and see what linux can do and try to do it to and better. Still no one sees anything about ms saying things like "About the new version of Linux, great job, but at least give us some thanks about it assholes"

Jism they are upset because the next xbox is probably going to be harder than hell to crack, hurting the whole scene, I don't think getting credit means much to them, they're are just super pissed off about that.   I agree maybe everyone should cooperate to help keep certain info from M$, it seems to me like evox team was just trying to beat the release of nexgen and didn't care...
Still want to thank Evox for their great dash though  and Xcuter for all their great work too, I would love to be able to write code like they can...but I'm just an ametuer

I think it's pretty naive to think that MS wasn't going to find (or hasn't already found) this security hole -- you think they were sitting back in their chairs lazily twiddling their thumbs after the 1.1 system was cracked just days after it was released?  They knew they fucked up and probably have already spent a whole heck of a lot of time, money and energy to figure just how that happened (recall they were looking to hire a modchip expert some time back).

So I think this is a pretty flimsy high horse for the x-ecutor people to be getting all up on - but beyond that, I think one reason some of us react negatively to such statements is that it fits a pattern for these folks of bashing others on the scene.  Although both evox and x-ecutor has added much to the scene, I have a heck of a lot more respect for evox than x-ecutor, not because they have necessarily released "more" or "better" stuff, but because their attitude isn't this childish, arrogant, self-aggrandizing, self-promoting bastardliness that comes from team x-ecutor.  (Anyone else find it wildly ironic that x-ecutor is now at the forefront of adding bios features (and is selling a flashable chip) when, less than a few months ago, they were claiming that the unflashable, non-upgradable x-ecutor 1 chip was "the last mod chip you'll ever need!!!" - and flashability wasn't a needed feature because the x-ecutor 1 "has all the bios features that can be added!  everything else will be done through software, so don't worry and buy now!")

Yes, I mean, HEAVEN FORBID, that anybody has to download a SPECIFIC version of the BIOS to run on their system!! Lordy, Lordy! What would we do without the Grand Holy Unified BIOS???

Geez, people, this isn't a 'feature' at all. It's a neat little parlor trick that exposes a secret for the BIOS hackers that may have provided a means to crack future Xboxes.

Perhaps M$ would have figured it out - though they had the tools in May to do it, they didn't - but now FOR SURE, they will counteract the backdoor.

Thanks.
