Your running both systems on the same MAC address???
Are you crazy??? That's just going to lead to network errors and cause internet connection problems... MAC addresses are similar to IP addresses... If you have 2 people with the same IP on a network then you'll get a conflict... and it won't work..

You will need to either change the MAC address of you computer or the one of your xbox to get everything working...

From Windows XP this can be done by going to the control panel and selecting network connections. Doubleclicking on your NIC and selecting properties.. From there select configure.. Then go the the advanced tab and select network address from the combolist.. Now just fill in your new mac address and hit ok...

You might need to restart your computer.. That should solve your web-surfing problems.

I know that but my ISP only allows one MAC address to access the internet, which was assigned the moment I connected to their network, therefore, my xbox cannot connect!

If you decide to purchase a dsl/cable router /modem whatever just be sure to tell your isp the new mac address of the router and you should be online in minutes...

if you need assistance setting up the router let me know. Most of the home user versions are very self explainitory.

If you could post the namebrand and model number of the "router" in question I can look it up for you.

If you are looking for a router the Linksys cable/DSL router are really afordable.
What is your internet connection type?

I looked up that unit it is a 8-port 10mbs hub.

If you are using DSL even if it requires pppoe the unit can make your life easier. Has supports for NAT and even DMZ if you need it.

The linksys model number is BEFSR41. The unit also includes a 4 port 10/100 switch. I think there may be a $15 dollar rebate on these right now.

For the price you can't go worng with these. They don't have near the flexibilty or configuration options of Cisco router products but very few home users need them.

You could set up intetnet connection sharing. That would also work. Keep in mind the hub that you are using is only 10mbs. What is your windows OS?

Somtimes the company I work for acquires used network equiptment. If we end up with a 8 port 10/100 switch or a Linksys router I will let you know. We usally sell the used parts VERY cheap.
