Obtaining Ip Abnormally
« on: November 30, 2002, 12:21:00 AM »

How would I go about getting the IP of my XBox without using EvoX? (I have reasons why I can't use it. It's installed, but I rewrote my menu, it no longer features the Network tab in menu). I tried NMapWin, but I have no clue if I'm using it right or not. Any help would rock, thanx, - Mat

If you can not remember the IP that you set your XBOX on that not a big problem.  There are ways you can connect back to it.

The easiest way and the way I am recomending since your XBOXs IP may not even be set properly is to use a EVOX boot disk with a edited EVOX.INI file with the IP on it you want.  This will let you FTP to your XBOX and then repair your menu item and set the IP .

The other way you can use an IP scanner.  The only catch is your XBOX has to be on the same subnet as your PC.  Since there is no router to join the unlike segmets.  The IP scanner will tell you what IP are active in the range you specify on your network.  A freeware IP scanner that works OK is called angry IP scanner 2.0 you can find it at www.download.com.  The reason I am recommending this one is its ease of use there are other products with more features but not as easy to use as this one.

If you need more assistance let me know.
