Evox 1.8.458 Vs 1.8.2812
« on: November 27, 2002, 10:14:00 AM »

With EvoX 1.8.458 I can connect FTP no problem transfer file and so on.  With 1.8.2812 I cant connect with static or dhcp.  I cant figure out whats wrong and I really would like to upgrade to the new version but when I do no networking is not possible.  So I am wondering what I am doing wrong.

I have tried both versions on disk and on HDD
I have a Matrix flashed with evo 2.6 bios
and I am green in this game (playing with modded Xbox for only a week now) so go easy on me please.

I had the same problem. Here is what you can try, it worked for me.
You need to open up the evox.ini file that comes with 1.8.2812, and edit it.
It should have these entries:
[Network]
SetupNetwork   = Yes
StaticIP   = Yes
Ip      = 192.168.0.2
Subnetmask   = 255.255.255.0
Defaultgateway   = 192.168.0.1
DNS1      = 0.0.0.0
DNS2      = 0.0.0.0
[FTP]
Enable      = Yes
Password   = xbox

After you have edited it and saved it, re-burn EvoX like you normally would, with the new evox.ini included on the disc. Be sure to use a disc that you know works on your Xbox (CDRW or DVD-R/RW).
I don't know how you connected before, but if you follow the tutorial from xbox-scene, you need to specify your PC IP address as 192.168.0.1 and your subnet mask as 255.255.255.000 then reboot your PC. I have found you can get really fast upload speeds using the above settings. (Your password is "xbox" when your FTP program asks for it, by the way.)
Hope this helps.
