beerchug.gif    I too was having trouble network speeds, but now I get 10-11 Mbps transfer rates  woo hoo!.   The thing that fixed it for me was disabling the QOS packet scheduler for my network adapter on my PC runnning XP.    So if you're having slow transfer rates this may be something to check.

This is my first post.  I have read and searched these forums thoroughly to setup my xbox and I just want to say thanks to everyone that contributes here!!!   beerchug.gif    I too was having trouble network speeds, but now I get 10-11 Mbps transfer rates  woo hoo!.   The thing that fixed it for me was disabling the QOS packet scheduler for my network adapter on my PC runnning XP.    So if you're having slow transfer rates this may be something to check.

how do you disable the QOS packet scheduler in XP? I am having trouble with connection speeds also and I will try this if it works.

I tried flashfxp. and transfers from my pc --> xbox range from 2500K/s-5000K/s

I am using a 5400 rpm 80 gig hd.

I wonder if my transfer speed would be faster if I use cuteftp pro? what r ur settings for cuteftp?

FREAK WHAT YOU HEARD !

The problem with X-FERS still remains a mystery and forever will...

UNLESS...

1. DO NOT REPLY ON A SWITCH/HUB alone...
1a) Put your switch/hub BEHIND A ROUTER!
2. NOW you will get FASTER SPEEDS... (for those who had no router)

The reason is that with no router your signal goes from X-box to your ISP then back to your PC... with a router it goes from your xbox to your house to your pc.

I use flashFXP on a 100MB netgear switch\router, I get anywhere between 2500/5000Ksec, I have also used leech ftp which gave me similar speeds but as you noticed, it causes the xbox to crash due to multiple threads.

how can it possably go to the isp

if u use a loca address of say

192.168.0.2 its an illegal network range for the net, by this i mean it cannot communicate with an outide range.

besides which my connetion to the net cant cope with 5mbps.

i see what your saying however your logic is flawed

Huh?  Don't give up your day job to become a network engineer   blink.gif

Like waz said, 192.168.x.x is one of the non-routable network spaces - if you tried to forward packets addressed to 192.168.x.x  to your ISP they will ignore them.

When both your PC and the Xbox are on the same network segment then having a router wont make a difference, a router only comes into play when the two machines talking are on different network segments.

Switched from FlashFXP to CuteFTP and went from 3-400 ko/s to 3000ko/s so i'm quite happy, I'll try to tweak the buffer size as you recommend wink.gif thanks for the tip

That's not strictly true since your pc becomes part of the isps own network and they can use those ranges within that network, they just shouldn't forward them outside of their own network.  I've seen isp's before where traceroute brings up 10.* ranges and all sorts of other things, before it leaves the isp's network.

Back on network speed, i'd like evolution-x to add an option to force the card to half duplex, since that's what the rest of my network runs at (because of problems with windows and/or cheap cards)

Strange, I tried the trial CuteFTP today and it connects and then locks up my Xbox.
