Once the harddrive is locked, is it possible to launch the ms dashboard from evox?

Yes.. However, a "locked" drive has no impact on if the dashboard will load from Evox or not.

The main reason to lock a hard drive is to use a replacement harddrive, and allow the stock MS bios to recognize and use this as if it was the origional drive.

To All those who seek to lock their Hard Disk to get into the MS Dash board, here are my views.

My config is as follows.

XBOX US Version Mfg July 2002
Matrix
Evox Bios with Dash.
120 Gig 7200 Western Digital

I got my MSDashboard to work by copying all the files form the original hard disk C drive to my 120 Gig WD. I renamed the dash board to msxboxdash.xbe.

Everything now works. The Evox Dash and also the MS Dash.

I don't see any need to lock my hard disk.

You don't need to lock the HD to get it to work with the MS Dashboard.

However, the whole point to locking the hard drive is to allow the STOCK xbox bios to load and utilize the replacement HD as if it was the origional one. If you don't lock it, the stock xbox bios will give an error. You HAVE to lock it in order to do this
