Need System Files From Somone's Evox Backup
« on: October 18, 2002, 03:43:00 AM »

umm the "backup" phase of the evox install ?

you mean the option "backup" IN evox when you boot to it?
That is not anything that other people can give you.  Those files that evox creates in that folder are specific to each machine.

Anyway if you are talking about actual c:\ files ..like original xbox files that come on all xbox's ..then thats a diff story.. and I cannot help you there but maybe others can.

NO.

He just needs a complete C:\ and E:\ from any Xbox.

If he wants to disable his mod, he WILL need a complete C:\ & E:\ from someone's Xbox that has the same BIOS/KERNEL as his original machine...

That's it, you CAN interchange the dashboard on chipped systems.

You CAN interchange the dashboard and turn off the mod as long as you use the SAME VERSION DASH as what the BIOS chip expects.

I've tried it and it works.

He hasn't erased the serial eeprom so the information in C:\Backup is not needed.

Yeap, it was someone else here who told me this, but they didn't have a full handle on it, so I tried it out on a machine with a switch to see.

Sure enough the mod chip doesn't care about the dashboard rev, but the OEM bios does.

Yes it will work, so can someone PLEASE help me.  If you are reading this, you can contribute since, everyone with an evox has these files.  There is no posts anywhwere on someone recovering a xbox drive from the dead, I checked many places.  I can post my experience when I am done, since there are many people who have the same problem as me.  In a year or two I am sure everyones drives will be dropping dead too.  I got 4 responses to my plee, and no offers.

Sorry, I can't help ya out with that one.

The problem is, the files you are requesting are under copyright from MS. So it's not going to be easy to acquire the files.
