Game Hangs At Evox Screen!

Are you running it from DVD or the hard drive?

Try BOOTING the disk from a cold boot. Does this help?

If not, then it's your disk, and has nothing to do with your Hard drive or Evolution X.

BTW: is your clock set? Some games don't start if the clock is not set!

is there any reason why it would do it if you're running off a hard drive.

I've had one or two programs exhibit the symptoms you describe.

It has always turned out that my "copy" was bad, and by reloading from an original the problem would go away.

I have seen this problem with bad copies
and bad file transfers as well
but more than anything I have seen this when:

Using the original xbox harddrive and copying game files to the "D" parition.

I have had soooo many problems when using an original drive.
As soon as I got the PC-Bioxx. I immediatley replaced the original HD and placed it safe storage.
Then used a 60gig Maxtor and used the "F" partition only for Games and Apps.
My "guess" is that the xbox maybe having problems with games playing back off a partition
that it might already use to store game information.

I have not had a single game fail when playing back from the "F" partition.
Including NCAA Football 2003. (Original Disk - Not a Release)

If you are using the original xbox harddrive to playback games from you are just asking for trouble.
I hope this is not the case.

I highly recommend not using the original Xbox hard drive for anything except a mint backup unless you are willing to go the extra mile reformat it and start from scratch.

Your right I should have read more closely what you had written.

You could try an orginal disk, but I have another idea:

I have had this problem too:
Playing game from DVD... creating game save.
Copying same game to HD and trying to play the game from DVD and xbox locks up.
Solution was to delete game saves using xbox dash and game played fine.
Same with the reverse of this situation...
copy first to HD... Play, Save game and then try and play from DVD
and no go. (Quantum Redshft)
Delete game save and it boots fine from DVD again.

Although not all my games seem affected by this...
Buffy: TVS, has no problems

It worries me that you didnt use the xbox dash to erase the game save data.
Game save data is stored in the UDATA and TDATA folders.
This varies from game to game...
learned this when sharing game save data on the net.
So maybe there are some TDATA files that need to be removed as well.

(U)ser Data?
(T)able Data?

The Game is booting NOW!
This is great news.
This confirms a theory I have had for quite sometime now
about game saves relating to game boot problems from the HD.

Now about your old game saves just not working.
I am not sure if the TDATA files contain "directory referance" file information or not...
I have an idea that the game saves are referring back to the DVD-ROM for files it needs to run.
Since, I assume you were originally playing the game from the DVD and created your game saves from there.

I cannot dig into my ref. material right now to start looking at this deeper.
I will post a tutorial I have and see if I can find a solution to this new problem a little later.

Ok.
First please let me know if you have tried copying the TDATA folder over.

This should really go in the new thread you opened but here goes:
You can get some game saves here that will give you a good idea of what to expect:
http://www.xbox-info...oads&file=index

Here is the tutorial.
It does not mention the TDATA folder here at all but some of the game saves I have require it like DOA3.

Tutorial written by : pmow
Most of the steps in here require altering the xbox's disk data. Before doing this, backup ALL directories on E, and if you haven't already, on C. You will need evoX running, and a basic understanding of directories (folders).
This is useful for backing up savegame data, copying savegames from one xbox to another on the other side of earth, and deleting individual savegames, without having to use the MS Dashboard.

(Cant Post Pic Sorry)

Inside each of these folders you'll find several files, including TitleMeta.xbx. This is the header name. Remember in the MS Dashboard, when looking up games, there are several saved games under a header that says the name? Well, it's located here. Just open with notepad, make it the default for xbx files. This will make it easy to open any of these files and check what game it is.
Each folder in UDATA is a specific game or program. For example, 41560001 has a TitleMeta with:
TitleName=Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2X
Obviously, this folder contains the save games for the game.

Losman if copying the TDATA folder does not help you may have to delete your game saves, from the msdash, and start your games from scratch....
