The Y: and Z: are just temporary, so no you dont have to back em up.

Do you know if this method automatically uses all of the available drive space and if it locks the drive too?

You use ATAPWD and HDDLOCK (found in the latest HDDUNLOCK archive file).

You best be EXTREMELY careful and read the documentation on this to the point that you know it cold.

If you screw up, you'll be out one locked hard drive!
