I've extracted iso's onto my pc drive and sometimes it adds 300 meg more. I think it was that dodge wam release of rallisport that I can't get to work, so that doesn't count. But maybe when you extract a normal dvd it might be larger that the dvd capacity. Maybe the new evox bios might be able to use larger drives

Nope, 136 gigs (or thereabouts) is the max. the Xbox can recognise and ever will be able to recognise.

I forget why but its true  :  smile.gif

It is the same reason as most older pc's it is a bios limit so really with all this bios hacking about i hope someone like EvoX will be able to fix the hard drive limit.

I use an 80gig hd and what i will do is to just setup another 80gig hd if my drive is full and just swap hard drives biggrin.gif

Many games are burned on dual-layered DVD's so they can fit more than 4.7Gb.  Same as most movie DVDs.

K, I thought it would be like PS2 where the max is 4.7 gig...

So there are some XBox games that are impossible to copy then? Seeing as max DVD-R capacity is 4.7 gig.

PS2 can read dual-layered games as well (read: Xenosaga).  Yes, there are some games that you can't make direct copies of, but there have been very few and they just had content downsampled a bit.

The xbox itself will never support anything higher than 137 gigs.
Thats a hardware related issue.
Nothing to do with the bios.

But if you want to go beyond 137 gigs there is a way.

The answers to all your questions are here:

For a detailed walkthrough with pictures, go to...

backup sites...

Thanks to Ferrel for all the hard work...

I have never come across a dual layed xbox dvd game and the only game that I have ever seen come close to the 4.7 gig max is Genman Onimusha.
