40gig Upgrade But Where Is All The Space?

Try reformating your "F" drive again. I had to do mine 2 or 3 times before it actually worked.........Just your "F" drive.

hmm.  Did you try doing the format command and the other command (where u have to put in the key) a 2nd or more times on the f partition? maybe u fudged and didn't notice.

You can also back everything up again (unless u still have the original backup on your pc) and install the new evox and use it's install HD feature.   takes care of all the formatting, and working with the keys.

Just a suggestion.  I can't think of anything else.  Hope it helps.

are you in the f directory when you are formatting?im asking this cause the same thing happened to me until a kind fellow on the board poited out to me that you have to be in the f folder to format it. thats why it was staying stuck on 0.if that dont work just use the hd prep tool again and wipe it  out and start over.

After you zero out your drive, make sure you format the C, E, and F partitions (1, 2 and 6), not just the F partition. You may end up creating a redundant file structure by not formatting all 3. Leave the X, Y and Z partitions alone. The xbox will govern those drives automatically. Also, if you are using FLashFXP to do it, make sure you see the text confirmation that the drive was formatted. Good luck.

M3_Del yes I zeroed the wole drive.

ssj3goku yes I'm getting very desperate and have already tried swithing jumpers on the hard disk. I tried setting to master, cable select I even tried the 32gig jumper setting on my 40gig IBM but still no go. I wonder if I get another hard disk if the same thing will happen! hummm.........

xboxcrazy, mind giving a step by step on this topic?
I know there's tutorials but they're way to generic (useful though  biggrin.gif ).

it would be good to hear how it went, what mistakes you made etc.
I am seriously considering putting a new hard drive in to one of my xbox's coz the dvd wont read any copies at all.

Damn man, feel sorry for you, I would be very frustrated if I where you.  Oh ya can you still return the drive?  What brand did you try?  Also you might want to try a different drive and see if some other brand will work.

MAG, I know you have an X-ecuter installed but the problem you're having sounds like something that would occur with an older bios version. Truly odd. You seem to have taken all of the right steps, perhaps swapping the hard drive would be another option. Do you have any friends with a modded Xbox? If so, see if they will let you put their modded hard drive into your Xbox for troubleshooting purposes. If it works, you'll know that your hard drive is the issue. If not, I would suspect a faulty chip. Lots of luck to ya.

If you have the newest version of Evolution X installed, you can go to the "settings" menu and it will display the current bios version you are using. If you don't have the newest version of EvoX, you can find it in the usual places or PM me.

Seriously sounds like an odd occurence. The HDD transfer with an X-ecuter chip should be as simple as follows.

*Use HDprep on this site to zero out your HDD.

*Swap out the new HDD for the old HDD

*Boot up Evox on a CD-RW

*Format the c\d\e\f drives using FlashFXP or WTS_FTP Pro with RAW
 commands

*OR using the new EVOX software format the drives and install Evox.

*Xboxcopy some games to your HDD and play.
