Sure it works. You just need to edit the paths in the config file (btw, no spaces & it is case sensitive)... open it up and take a look, it's fairly self explanatory.

The configuration file is called config.xml You can edit it using your favorite text editor.

                                    I need help. I'm been trying to get this thing to work for the past hour. What exactly do I need to do to the config file in order to get this thing to load???

my media player is stored as follows;
e:\apps\XboxMediaPlayer\default.xbe
And I'm using the new Evo-X dash

Also, if I'm not going to use XStream do I still need to install the server folder?

Any help is very appreciated at this point.

Hmm....try this...It should work

<configuration>

<media>

   <- if you're running from HDD you should configure these two settings ->

   <map>E:,Harddisk0\Partition1</map>
   <map>E:,Harddisk0\Partition6</map>
   <install>E:\apps\xboxmediaplayer</install>

   <- if you want, you can specify the directory XBPLAYER will start in ->

   <localmedia>E:\apps\xboxmediaplayer\media\video</localmedia>

   <- remove the asterisks and modify to assign your XBOX IP address and gateway ->
   <- if you don't, XBPLAYER will use EVOX settings if available, else it will use DHCP ->

   <localhost*>192.168.0.3</localhost*>
   <gateway*>255.255.255.1</gateway*>

   <- modify file type filtering or remove completely ->

   <filemask>avi|bmp|dat|jpg|mp3|mpg|mpeg|wmv|xbe</filemask>

   <- you can specify the location of your dashboard (must be on the C: drive) ->

   <dashboard>msxboxdash.xbe</dashboard>

</media>

</configuration>

                                    Is this where youve got your media? If not you will have to change it in order to play it, otherwise it cant find anything. Ithink  blink.gif

Well I finally got mine to load up. Still haven't tried to get any media to play in it yet. Still frustrated that it took me so long to figure this out!
