Overheating Cpu
« on: August 28, 2005, 09:33:00 PM »

My xbox seems to overheat within 3-5 minutes of turning it on.  The cpu and MCPX both heat up to 118-120 while im in the x3 config live screen, i have a 1.0 xbox and tried turning up the fan and taking off the lid.  Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Easy! Get out that soldering iron and get ready for the 12V fan mod! My xbox had those EXACT heat temps so I upgraded the stock fan to 12V for free! Just cut the fans BLACK wire at the base of its red plug and strip the end of that BLACK wire and solder it to the metal shielding in the back of the xbox. Done! My xbox dropped 20 degrees farenhieght.

Hope this helps
