yes i tried dao and finalize.  

im at the point that i think its the installation of the chip, but it ejects without resetting so it doesnt make much sense.  arg.

I am having the same prob.  my box doensnt reset with audio cd in but i cannot get evox to load.  i hvae tried many different kinds of cd-rw media and multiple apps to burn it with(nero, discjuggler4, recordnowmax 4.0) all using the methods I have read(dao, udf 8+3+1 etc etc).  when i try to hook up a sony dvd-rom drive (ddu1621) instead of the regular xbox drive the machine does the funky three reboot and flashes red.  

I found it wierd because it plays originals(games,dvd,audio) doesnt reset when the button is pressed but it wont take a different dvd drive and wont take the types of media I have tried.  any suggestions?  do i dare mess with the pot on the cd reader or can that get really ugly?
