Some Original Hd Questions
« on: August 15, 2002, 04:27:00 PM »

Ok I have a bit of an odd problem here.  I have two xbox hard drives (originals).  one of them is brand new (no data), and the other is a used one with a lot of data.  I want to replace the hard drive with nothing on it with the one with all of the data on it.  but when I do that it gives me the error message about needing mantinance (message #13).  From what I know the error #13 has something to do w/the dashboard, and I have the evox dash installed on it (before I forget, this hd worked fine on it's original machine)  the blank hard drive works fine... no error.   does anybody know of a way that I can either get this xbox to read the hd w/data, or copy the data off the data "full" hd to my pc and onto my xbox... (heh... please don't ask about the stupidity of my problem)

You can download the HDD driver from here and then be able to read the HD from a PC.

biggrin.gif   THANX!

ps.  oh and is it possible to flash the bios again without the chip still in there... just double checking before I try anything.  I'd think it is possible.

2.3 should support other hard drives, so i don't really know what the problem could be. as long as you have the TSOP write-enable spots still jumpered, you should be able to flash your bios. You need a chip to flash it originally, but once it's flashed you can run the unsigned code to flash it again (as far as i know), so i think you can reflash if you want. just remember if you put an official bios in there you won't be able to reflash without having a modchip installed.
