Need Some Help In Evo-x
« Reply #1 on: August 11, 2002, 06:24:00 AM »

Ok lets see if I can help you out here...

1. I fitted an enigmah final ran Evo X dash from dvdrw, transfered the evo x bios file to my xbox hdd and flashed the bios with Evo X 2.2. Then removed the enigmah.

I then installed Evo X dash to the hdd and renamed the orignal dash to msdash.xbe and linked it from the Evo X menu , it all works fine.

2. I fitted a 120gb hdd with evo x dash installed , it boots perfectly every time. If you mean can you boot with no hdd connected, then thats a NO it won't boot the system from dvdrw/cdrw if there's no hdd connected.

3. It is possible to overwrite the original dash, but why would you want to do this ?

4. Yes windows 98se is capable of preparing the hdd for xbox. Ofcourse you will need further utils in order to do the job.

5. My Xbox has never crashed, old or new hdd. Original HDD should last for years, after all there's nothing special about it. It's a bog standard IDE hdd.

6. Partitions X Y Z are used for the xbox cache , they are small at about 800mb each, I would stay away from them, and leave them as they are.

Well hope this helps...

Installing Evo X dashboard, flashing onboard, and installing new hdd really isn't difficult, if you are unsure of it, then do seek help, but you should be able to manage it with a little guidance.

We are happy to help over at our chan if you like.
