Flaky cable perhaps?

I'm connected via my router/hub unit, which also serves up the DHCP.

Make sure your address is set to 192.168.0.XXX, same as your PC, except the last number, which should be different.

Well....I'm not sure but I think u can do it with a cross-over cable....but you're gonna have to find out IP's....I guess when u run CMD....and type ipconfig /all....it should give u it.

Right,...
If you have the xbox connected directly to the PC - you need a crossover cable (for direct link).

If you have the pc to a hub and the xbox connected to the same hub (ie. you got a cable modem too or bigger LAN) - you need normal cable (some call CAT5 some call RJ45)

If you are through the hub to the xbox, it helps if you have a static IP for your PC (in win98 you can do this in network neighborhood, in XP you can do this in the properties of your network connection). Set your PC to 192.168.0.1 and set your xbox to 192.168.0.2 both with a gateway of [255.255.255.0] .

If you got win98 you need to reset after changing the IP address of your PC. Also try and have the xbox on when you boot the PC.
Its important you use these IP numbers as they are seen by the computer as Internal Addresses . All should be well to connect to the xbox with flashFXP .

If you have a direct connection...
You dont need to set a static IP unless you want to.
If you go to the network screen on EvoX and it doesn't display an IP address.....do one of the following

If you have Windows XP then all I do is goto My Network Places on the start menu and click on View Network Connections, this opens up the connections folder, double click on the Local Area Connection icon and click on properties.

This usually sends a signal through to the xbox as the PC does a little broadcast to see if anythings connected- this is when EvoX detects the IP and displays it.

If you have Windows 98 then try typing netstat -a in a dos prompt, this should do a little broadcast out through the network to see whats there and EvoX should detect the ping and display the IP address.

Yeah.. problem solved. Be sure that the nic in your computer detects automatically an IP ( It worked fine for me). If you wait a few seconds  the 000.000 etc in the network menu of your xbox  automatically turns in an IP number. This IP number you can use in FlashFXP to connect to the xbox.

In flashFXP just press F4 and create a new site. Fill in a name and the IP-number, connect and voila.
