Might also be the DVDR media you are using. If it boots to the main game screen then I believe that it may be a media problem. I had the same problem with Blood Omen 2. It hung after the 'press start' on the DVDR, but on the DVDRW it booted fine, and I've been playing that so far.
As an added idea, I have the Pioneer A04 (104) DVD burner, so I always burn onto DVD-RW and if it works then I make a proper backup onto DVDR. Erase the DVD-RW and start again. That way I know for sure if it will boot or if I have to change the hex or something like that.
I use RecordNow DX and recording options should be DAO (don't think you can change this - greyed out) abut make sure that it is UDF bridge. [Not Joilet!!!]. Should be 2 options there and it is the 1st one.
Input files and burn at 1 speed with new volume, disc name doesn't need to be entered, but I usually do. I use all caps.
Hope it works and if you use a A04 then I recommend using a DVD-RW first to make sure that it works.
P.S Don't think your hard disc is nuked, and I don't recommend flashing the bios, but user beware. It is your machine.
