Zeroing Out H/d....
« Reply #1 on: August 07, 2002, 09:40:00 AM »

Planning on replacing xbox hd.  after zeroing the 80gig hd with hdpreparer, I looked at hd through winhex and there appears to be all zero's.  however, after looking at drive in windows explorer, for example, all I see is the drive with no folders or anything.

is there anyway to tell whether the new HD has the C and F partions on it?

I didn't zero the 80gb drive, i Only zerod the first 4096, and it works ok... And no, it wasn't a new drive from the store. So just zero the first 4096 sectors, and spare a lot of time!
