tongue.gif

i'm not really complaining (it's really no bother to launch flashfxp from one computer rather than the other) - just curious about why this occurs

(to the guy who said it was the network card -- files can be transferred to the xbox at the 3000 kb/s speed no matter which computer they are located on!  the weird thing is i have to run the flashfxp program from a particular computer in order to get that speed (even if i'm transferring files to the xbox from the computer flashfxp is not being run on) <-- i hope that was clear...  biggrin.gif )

Do you think it's slow because it's copying from the Xbox DVD Drive to the PC HD...and not the Xbox HD to the PC HD? Would that make a difference

my speeds of about 12mbit/s are copying from the xbox dvd drive to the pc hard drive. i've never tried copying from the xbox hard drive, but i do assume it would be faster.

cpu speed has nothing to do with the transfer speed.

I'd say harddrive (pc and xbox make a difference)

I'm using a 400Mhz (thats right! 400 baby!)
20gig 7200 speed
half duplex Linksys ISA ethernet card (thats right! ISA BABY!)
------------------

stock xobx drive: 300kps
80gb Maxtor: 800kps

(Wow.... just noticed, my $200 xbox is at least twice as fast as my pc)

yeah. my speeds are generally around 1.4MB/s - 1.7MB/s from xbox > pc through a linksys router and 100mbt NICs. hdds are at 7200rpm, but i guess its limited to the 5400rpm that the xbox runs at. takes usually around 10mins to copy over 1 game. maybe a bit more maybe a bit less. i have noticed that pc > xbox is a bit faster tho.

cool.gif and one is Pro (A) . It must be some kind of process or service installed by default that makes the computer slow. For you who had WinXP... try shutting down the QoS service. It will probably help.

Coz you dont transfer using your slow computer it doesnt use the processes or services on that machine. It only transfers from the HD to NIC w/o using the operative system.

Try that.. or try to shutdown other services you might have installed after. And also shutdown every process that isnt needed.

Some NICs are picky.  Try going to the settings and hardcode it for 100mbps, full duplex.  Odds are that it is set for "Auto".  It is having trouble auto negotiating with the hub/switch.  I see this a lot.

The speed from the Xbox to the PC may be slower because you are ripping from a CDRW/DVD.  The bottle neck is the read speed of the CD/DVD drive on the Xbox, not the connection speed.  My speed from PC to Xbox is also double that of Xbox to PC.  Usually I am ripping while I am doing it.  I haven't tried to FTP from the Xbox HD to the PC HD.

I have several CDRW burns I have done that experience the painfully slow transfer speeds.  I think it is caused by the drive having difficulty reading the CDRW.  Maybe try burning it again.  I gave up and didn't bother with it.  You can also unrar the iso, and then use Xiso to extract the files on the PC, and then transfer over.

I am copying a file that is like 250mb and it will go to about 80 percent then the transfer speed will gradually slow down from 700kbps to 0kbps...whats wrong?

It gets to 88% everytime and then boom! goes down to 0 kbps

I am assuming you are trying to rip from a CDRW.  Is this right?  It is not an original?

I have the same problem with certain burns I have done on CDRW.  Oddly enough, the slowdown did not happen in the exact spot everytime, but in general the same area.  I SUSPECT it has to do with the Xbox drive reading the CDRW.  Did you try reburning the CDRW?  At a slower speed?

ok normally i will het anywhere from 1,800 kbps to 3,000 kbps using avalaunch or MXM (evox crashes after about 1 or 2 file xfers but goes the same speed, its weird)  i have a 4094 1.0 xbox using exploits and whatnot to load evox and a evox bios.  This is with dhcp OR static ips on a netgear router.  dhcp tends to crash certain dashboards but thats another post.  just now when trying a 3997? 1.0 xbox which is a little older i get about 500kbps max with and prog, and avalaunch tends to crash in the middle of file transfers.   I still dont know what causes ftp servers to be so buggy on my systems but maybe it is the fonts?  BTW "SpeedCorp 2K Enhancer" is a piece of sheit.

im still having the same prob with different boxes, but only with different file types.  an .iso will transfer at 5-6,000kbps but an .afs will transfer at 600.  im just wondering if anyone else has the same problem.
