Try not using wireless.

I use 100mbps "wired" through a router hub. Works great for me.

Mine was fairly fast... forget the actual rate, but it never maxxed out the LAN speed.

Downloaded DOA3 (4GB) in about 20 minutes.

i have this weird situation -- i've got two computers ( call 'em A and B ) hooked up to the same wired network that the xbox is hooked up to --

now, all my game files are on computer B -- when i connect with flashfxp from computer B to the xbox and then initiate a transfer, i get about 600kb/s -- but when i connect using computer A and initiate a transfer (of files still located on computer B, mind you), i get 3000+ kb/s

what the heck is that?  blink.gif

sounds like computer B is slower then computer A.  the speed of your comp makes all the difference

nope!  computer A is a P3-1ghz, computer B is a brand spankin' new P4 2.2ghz ! (also keep in mind that the files are always on comp B, even when i run flashfxp from A, i'm still transferring the files from B to the XBox)

comp A is running WinXP Professional while comp B is running WinXP Home - but i'm not sure why that would matter for this speed thing

about the switching LAN cards idea: since the files are on B, the fact that i'm getting 3000+ kb/s transfer (when running flashfxp from A) seems to show that the card in B can handle these speeds, don't you think?

laugh.gif  laugh.gif Well that will put us on your first post . Why the heck is going on unsure.gif If the LAN cards can handle the same speed why is one slower than the other. Believe me Logic don't always work   sad.gif

At least you should try to use flashfxp from A to Xbox.

all right - i've tried a number of combinations: it doesn't matter where the files are physically located ( A or B ), it matters only where flashfxp is run from ( i.e. transfer files from A to xbox - high speed if flashfxp is run from A, low speed if flashfxp is run from B; transfer files from B to xbox - high speed if flashfxp is run from A, low speed if flashfxp is run from B )

the only variable affecting the speed is which computer flashfxp is run from...  so, in conclusion, blink.gif  blink.gif  blink.gif !

The faster card sounds like it supports bus mastering.   Having the same faster card in computer b will help.

lol you are complaining about 600kb transfer being slow.  i remember back in the day when i ripped dc games through a serial port!  i think it was like 25bites a second or something.  it took 24 hours to rip one not to mention how hard it was to make it work!
