I'm cheap and don't want to buy a dvd burner yet
« on: July 08, 2002, 01:45:00 AM »

I'm about to shell out some money for a premodded xbox and i'm too cheap to get a dvd burner (for now).

Theoretically i could copy the xbox games to my pc hard drive and keep an archive there and copy the games to the xbox hd as needed right?

As far as the games go that need to be patched, is it possible to just transfer the cracked release to the xbox hd?

Thanks for any info

yep yep and yep.... you got it right.... well not the as needed part... you would have to copy the whole game and leave it there.... once u wanna play another del it and copy the new one in its place..... and if u ever go back to the other game, man it takes a while to copy 2 or 3gigs...

the only problem is the fact that the largest drive on the xbox free is E/ and it only is around 5gig..... so games like halo would eat that space up soooo quickly.... and as for the patched games, you must extract them from the iso first....

aslong as you have a few hundred MB left, I see no reason to del the game from the xbox right after you get done playing(unless your just tired of it)... E/ seems to be what xbox uses as its memory card..... so no biggie.. unless it uses it to cache large games as well... then you'd have to del the games b4 u can play from dvd..

be careful with the .ini file too, you would have to edit it a lil bit...

oh, does it matter if the new hd is 5400 or 7200 rpm?

does the xbox use an ultra ata100?

The XBOX uses ATA33, ATA100 won't do you any good. As for the rpm's, how fast do you wan't it to be?
