New 250 Gig Drive Problems :i'm A Noob
« on: October 10, 2004, 10:35:00 AM »

I've read post along these lines but i need more specific help because i'm so new.

I have a v1.0 box, on which i've done the tsop falsh mod from evilzmods (Flashing TSOP With ANY Version XBOX (V1.0-V1.5) For Noobs), using the 007 raincoat .7 update expliot.  Worked like a charm, I used its associated bios (X-ecuter 2 4981 BIOS. (4981.06_256k.bin) looks pre-configed),  made it a 1024 as told and flashed succesfully...lucky i guess. I ftp'd over all the appropriate apps. evox, XBMC ect. and it works great.

It only had 8 gig hard drive, so i just bought a 250 gig WD (WD2500?) and used the ftp format method (Format a new HD through FTP (EvoX) (v0.2)) as found here in the tutorials.  I originally had a huge F:\drive only. then I reflashed say bios thru 007 hack again making the boot seek sequence for the bios go to F: instead of C:  I put my evox 3935 w/ dhcp boot disk back in and ftp everything i had on the original 8 gig to the new F:. I have updated the evox.ini and xbmc----.xml to indicated F: as the new home.  Here is what it does with the 250....It boots thru the big X box animation screen then the led turns red and it just runs and the hard drive clicks(almost like its formating, but its not) until i shut it down.  If i look at it again thru ftp using the boot disk the file structure is fine...one wired thing...is that it looks like a have a C: drive now ~50 gig, F: ~250 gig ???

I got the 007 and raincoat from the usuall place and updated it to .7 raincoat.  and it did work fine with its original hdd.  What am i screwing up???  I'm obviously missing some thing right in fromt of me.

I'm not sure if this matters... but when i did xbtool the bios to resize... The LBA 48 area was not selecable for some reason but it was checked and using the partion6.  I changed the colors of the startup, changed led to red, made it 1024 and copied the new hash to the evox.ini file current 0x----------------------------( does this hash realy matter?)  Is there any thing else i have to tell evox.ini about the bios?

Please help or give me a swift kick for missing what i've done... I'm so close...

try flashing it again with the lba selected and chose a partition table on xbtool.
the hashline is so that evox can know what bios your using to me it isnt that important.

Thanks...

The LBA sect. is grayed out?  But i can see that it was checked and  so was ignore partition table.  Partition6 takes rest.  This is the bios that came with raincoat.  I was wondering if xbox partitioner might help and how to use it if it would?

well, i'm x2 4981.06  .

I got it to work though!  I was using the FTP Method, which didn't work.  I finally was able to burn a dvd and I used the format script addition to the evox.ini and it worked like a charm in under a min.  !

I guess the key was have the Backup info created from the orignial drive on the dvd and then this is used to format the new drive.
