Can You Install A Bigger Hdd In 1.6?
« on: September 11, 2004, 02:52:00 AM »

I've done a few HDD upgrades already. But now I;m dealing with a K:5838 .When I try loading the eeprom into Live-info beta2 to get the new HD lock key,it says eeprom is encrypted, not a valid 1.0 or 1.1 eeprom.Tried doing a search ,but didnt find anything.Anyone with a new box upgraded the harddrive yet?Any help,or pointing in the right direction would be appreciated.                          Sorry, forgot to mention that I don't have a modchip, only softmods.UDE 2 for this particiular box W/nkpatcher

Ok, I have a larger hard drive in my 1.6, but it is not locked. You can still have the hard drive just not lock it. which means your mod will always have to be on, which means you wont be able to play on xblive, you can still play on xbconnect. You cant lock it because config magic isnt 1.6 supportive yet, but probably in the future.

there are other programs that can handle 1.6 EEPROM and locking is easy.

Use XboxHDM 1.9. It can format and lock a HDD, regardless of what version eeprom you have. I have a 1.6, and XboxHDM locked my 20GB and my 250GB HDD's with no problems.
