Xp Hd Nfg In Xbox?
« on: August 08, 2004, 05:03:00 PM »

Hello Everyone,

I have looked but I can't find what I need.

I have a 120 gig maxtor that was in my PC - I took it out and attemped to use it in a modded x2 box.

When I swap drives, I don't hear the drive running - I hear it boot yes, but thats it. when   I format the drive the disc (DVD) tells me its formating, but It doesn't work after that..

I have attempted this a few times with the same result. I have never had this problem before - but I have ALWAYS used a vergin drive.

Any thoughts?

Thanks :)

What method are you using to format the drive? If using Evox, are you including the following commands?

CODE
ConfigSector "\backup\disk.bin"
Format c:
Format e:
Format f:
Format x:
Format y:
Format z:

What does "doesn't work" mean? - Can you FTP to the xbox and see the partitions at all?

I have Evox and the latest Slayers.

1. I boot my (working/modded) xbox with DVD in drive.
2. Slayer/Evox starts
3. I UNPLUG (working) HD and replace with PC HD
4. I select format HD
5. Format STARTS, but slow to format each drive letter. (1/2 hour to format all)
6. Reboot xbox

7. ERROR code (HD)

To me it seems that the hard drive stops after power up, like it can't boot / locks up?

And like I said before - I have never had this problem before using a fresh drive. Does this have something to do with using a used PC hard drive? Does XP screw up boot sectors?

BTW the HD works in my computer fine - so I know it works.

Thanks again ;)

Before I took the drive out of the PC, I deleted all partitions and defrag'd it. Just to cover my bases ;)

I tried linux and NOTHING! the same results. I even changed the circut board on the HD with another one I had, NOTHING.

I downloaded a copy of EXUSERS UnleashX (latest) for testing and just for a kick plugged in the HD and... I WORKED! -- I have no idea why all other attemps failed, but I am glad my 120 gig drive ain't JUNK!

Thanks for all your help with this problem guys. this thread is CLOSED :)
