Samsung 616t Dealer?
« on: August 03, 2004, 04:05:00 PM »

Anyone know where I can order a couple of 616T Samsung drives from?  I wanna mod one for myself and my brother-in law wants me to do one too.  I may do a third one for a friend too.  I hate to pay double and tripple shipping on ebay.   <_<

the trouble with finding a seller is most will ship you the newer 616E instead (samsung discontinued the 616T and replaced it with E, and most vendors never updated their listings, so they are listing 616T and selling the 616E)

and the few places that guarantee a T or F know what we are using them for and charge out the ass for them

Of course you may want to double check what you're getting.
But couple weeks ago, I bought the drive from compuvest, and they gave me 616-TEP (or something like that, i'm not quite sure).

I'll try to post a pic later tonight.

it sits on rank 3 according to this:

http://www.hardmods.net/modules/arms/view....rt&idx=7&page=1

I think there's no definite answer for this. Just read the tuts, and think for yourself if you're comfortable with it or not. Otherwise, there's 616T drives available at bst.

if you're good with a sodering gun it doesn't seem hard.

thanks for the link.  I'm gonna call compuvest when they open just to make sure I can get the EXACT model and no substitutes and the qty I want too.  I hate to order 3 drives and open the box to find 3 616E's or something.

For those reading, gogocity.com (found through pricewatch) has a listing for the 616T drives but it's a bait and switch.  I finally got a hold of them and it turns out I would have been stuck with exactly that -- three 616E drives!!!
