Wtt: My Rrod 360 For A Refurb/reflow Preflash
« on: October 22, 2008, 03:26:00 PM »

Hi Folks,

My 360 isn't completely dead yet, it will start, run the dashboard, play DVD's, and play music.  Once you start a game however (I will use bioshock for an example) it will load the title screen, load the game, and play for about 2 or 3 minutes, at which point it will freeze.  After letting it sit for about 1/2hr I tried again, played for 5 minutes and froze.  It has only RROD'ed on my once while doing this 7-8 times, and still works as an MC just fine, but I'd like to get it to someone that can fix it and make it better.  I prefer to ship this console-only with no faceplate, as I have custom painted mine.  CONSOLE IS BANNED, WOULD LIKE A BANNED ONE IN RETURN!  I don't care about XBL biggrin.gif

Please PM me with offers, and thanks for looking!

Alls you need to do is wrap it in a blanket for about 20 minutes then put more thermal paste on and reseat the heat sinks and you should be fine.

DO NOT WRAP IT IN A BLANKET/TOWEL!!!!!!!!!

This will make the situation worse later when it Red Rings again.  This is only a temporary fix and risks burning your house down in the process!

^^What he said. Some people who do that are stupid. But some people actually do that and take it to gamestop and get money for it lol...

I grew up in a motorola 2-way radio shop, and we have a hot-air SMT reflow station, should i attempt to reflow this myself?  Are there any REALLY GOOD instructions on doing this correctly?  I want to do it once, and have it done the right way.  Thanks for any input!
