Was wondering if anyone had experience with the non-616t drive upgrades (those suckers are HARD to get)...

I have been looking into the LG-8160B and Sony DDU1612 drives, but I want to be able to back up my original games using the new drive. Can anyone verify that this can still be done using either of these drives?

Also, if someone has done it using the Pioneer 500M please let me know, and I can chase one down.
