Non Ms Dvd Remotes

I Just bought some cheapo dvd remotes, and noticed that the Receiver doesnt work with an offical MS dvd remote,

however....

an offical MS dvd dongle, will work for both remotes!!

Does any1 know why this is? I was hoping to use the cheap dongle, because I lost one a while ago.. and have 2 official remotes and 1 receiver.

I have no idea what brand it is, but the model number "XB-6012" for those that are interested.
