Best Xbox Motherboard Revision
« on: March 17, 2004, 01:03:00 PM »

I was wondering if there are differences between the xbox motherboard revision which makes one of them stand out. For instance, I like the v1.1 the best because it has a 1 MB bios and no GPU fan.

Do any of you have your favourite mobo revisions and why? I can imagine there may be differences in the video decoder qualities, or maybe the PSU of the V1.2 - 1.6 is better? Maybe the newer revisions are made out of cheaper and thus less reliable components?

Please share your opinions/experiences.

They all seem to be made out of the same parts for the most part. Just each is slightly retooled...

My 1.4 runs alot cooler then my 1.0 and 1.1 did for sure.

As far as parts, they all seem to have the same parts, like caps and stuff, all the same.

I disagree on parts, on whatever my 2nd box is 1.5 or what not, there are a bunch more empty spaces for capacitators and what have you, and they're def diff types. But I suppose they're about equal overall

Personally I like the motherboards with the Conexant video encoders (v1.0-v1.3) since linux has HDTV support for these chips! :)

Also, you can do a lot more modifications on them. Ie. Ram Upgrade, cheapmods.
