I have just opened my spanking new green Crystal Limited Edition Xbox to discover neither a Connexant nor a Focus video chip :-(


Instead I am faced with an 'XLB' logo that has me in tears...



How long do you think it will be before the Evolution-X crew release the 'M8' bios?

How and where did you get the Crystal Xb?? I am very curious, cause it officially comes up at 12.03.04 :>. And what HDD and what dvd drive lies in it ?

And for the 1.6 Mobo - just wait a while . So do I have to wait for the new bios... cause I am willing to buy that Crystal Beauty .

 Why not do your bit for the scene?

1) Copy the 007 raincoat 0.7 save to your Xbox.
2) Boot the hack using 007:Agent Under Fire
3) Use the raincoat -r command to dump a copy of the BIOS to BIOS.BIN
4) Reboot with nothing in the drive
5) Copy the save back to your memory card
6) Drop the memory card into a hacked Xbox
7) FTP into the Xbox
Grab the BIOS
9) E-mail it to Team EvoX

You never know, maybe you'll see your name in the "Thanx" bit of the EvoX M8 readme file!

 and while your at it, see if you can use PBL to load an M7 or 4981 (but use PBL, dont flash) just to see how it works out

 not really, it uses the same 5530 kernel that has been shipped on xbox for several months now.  The various groups are working on it.

I'll throw the bios up on xbins today if anyone wants to mess around with it.

 You are correct in your assumsion,

The sdk does say something about it.  And you would be correct to say that it is a 1.6 board.

Only time will tell which team implaments the new patches in there bios first.

heinrich: Is it verified that the bios on the Crystal Xbox is binary equivalent to the 5530 that has been in v1.4/1.5 for a long time? Has someone already tried booting the original bios off LPC?

If so, then it's as easy as v1.4/1.5 were .. (new videochip = new bios needed) and the reason for M7 / 4981 not working is that they don't have support for the XLB-chip.

EvoX ought to be the first since they'll just release a patched 5530 while Team X-ecuter need to study the initialisation code and rewrite their bios-code.

I don't have access to a Crystal box myself for another few days.

well, I only assumed that it was the same, MS hasnt had a problem up'ing their kernel versions in the past.  If someone with a 1.4/1.5 has 5530, they can check it with the one on xbins, which was pulled from a crystal edition xbox.  <
