Seems as if bourke got lost... no one seems to be able to provide pics of the mobo in which he declaired was a 1.6.  I did notice the pics he posted were of an unopened Xbox, which makes me wonder how he saw the different video encoder...

Work fine with an X2.3 and X2 4981 bios ....

Just one problem, the box didn't accept to launch older version of the M$ Dashboard and gave me an error 13 when then X2 is disabled . If anyone have an idea, please tell me. ( yes I'm sure I try with a totally unmodified version of M$ dashboard)

Mine came in yesterday from Amazon.de Its a Focus as well. Seems that all the Crystals Xboxes in Europe so far have been reported with the focus chip.

 yes. the xbox crystal is really extremely noisy. i am thinking of returning it since it's no fun playing games with that kind of constant noise level.

the whole case makes a loud vibrating noise which is VERY audible when playing, esp. when there's not much game "sound".
some "smartypants" suggested to turn up the volume and stop complaining about fan noise...  well all I can say is that there is not much point in turning up the volume since games have silent phases, building up suspension through different sound levels etc. and it's no good if you are constantly bombarded with a jet turbine noise from your xbox...

according to the news reports this problem only persists with the SUNON fans. my model is 2xxxxxxx40605. i.e. china 05 fab line 2. I would surmise all china 05 fab line 2 models will have this problem.
So if you go buy a crystal box make sure NOT to take one of those fab lines (first number in serial and last 2 numbers).

I already packed it back up and will return it tomorrow morning.

It's only a matter of time until this fan dies anyway since its vibrating so much it wont last long. You better stay away from SUNON fanned xboxes.

i just wrote a mail to the webshop i ordered my 300 gb smart XX modded crystal box and told them to change the fan if necessary... think all of u should do that cause MS would look strange if u returne a modded xbox
