Samsung Dvd Rom Problems
« on: December 22, 2003, 07:50:00 PM »

my samsung drive is broken i think :(
i opened it up and disconnected the wires for the board on the bottom, (was looking for a way to make it slightly thinner) and when i put it back together again and turned it on the drive ejected straight away and it started trying to read the disc even though it was ejected. Pressing eject again only makes it try and read a disc and it stays ejected perminently even when i turn it off. I have rechecked the connections over and over and can not see anything wrong. If anyone knows anything about what might be wrong can you please help me. I really dont wanna have to get a new one because they cost $140USD

Also, i was installing an Aladden Advance for a friend and i cant get it working, i have uninstalled and reinstalled it about 5 times and it:
works with it out
doesnt with it in
doesnt with everything but the d0 connected
and does just the d0 connected
when it doesnt work i mean it turns on for a second the turns off then on for a second then off the on and stays on flashing red and green with nothing on the screen (i have heard about someone having this same problem before but im not sure weather it was about installing a mod or what), are aladdens preflashed mods? this is what i am assumming, if not how do i flash it?

thanks heaps for any info ppl

Regarding the Drive problem check the power connector(the yellow wires) I once severed one of those wires when putting my case back together it had a similar result.

no luck
m tryed my nextdoor neibours drive (with my yellow wires) and it works fine, so the problem is in the drive itself
