Dreamix - My Review After The Q&a
« Reply #2 on: December 11, 2003, 03:12:00 PM »

Hello, we are Dreamix, a bunch of idiots who announced your product in the xbox community and are answerring questions nobody asked. We did not even uncover anything special, yet we are so eleet to request to stay quiet about it on websites.

We are sure if you think of a world without Tivo, you could think Dreamix is a nice product, yet for
300-400$.

We base it off linux, so we only had to code Software, we are too lazy to use the XDK at all, or maybe too stupid.

We currently show you a lame teaser video showing you what we've brought on an encoded video with Adobe Premiere under Windows, and of course! a 3D spinning cube as menu!! (first openGL lesson???) please bear with the fact that we are morons.

We can playback what the xbox can, we have 3D support (no the xbox is ficitional 3d) DX center?
who cares, and we are so nice to not ask you money per month, and of course you can encode anything to Mpeg4 (yes, divx, the buggy codec where you see a new version every month)

To attract some newbies we've thrown in an AIM Client in dreamix!!!

We are aswell here to announce that the TV Card we use has huge distortions, no this is not an issue with dreamix, but with TV Cards under linux. Linux rocks for these things, if you don't believe us, get a Tivo.

Quote "Lenn0x: Their are no nasty installs, everything is automated. Point click and install"
Do we really want to point click and install on a PC sold as Tivo? We have a PC for this, sorry.....

Quote "Somewhat, we will be providing a DX Center Network Browser to work on Mac,Linux, and Windows to allow you to access your TV shows and copy them to other PCs"
We know its a PC now you just ruined the fun to diss this machine as a PC sad.gif

It cannnot Record DVD-R's , Stream of PC/MAC , no DVD Audio Support....... etc etc...

Anything cool you would expect from a device like Dreamix, is not in the first generation, but we gladly accept your money so we can start building something nice.

We had publicity in the xbox community for one reason, to catch all the people who can afford this device and support us to create something nice.

Our custom build of linux is a Debian steal edition, now we say its custom, yet on the website we said it was a modified debian distro.

I hope this clears up what people waited on,

NO DREAMIX IS NOT FOR XBOX
NO DREAMIX IS NOT BETTER THEN TIVO
DREAMIX HAS JUDDER PROBLEMS WITH THE TV CARD
ITS OVERLAY IS A GAY 3D SPINNING CUBE
AND YOU HAVE TO USE A MOUSE AND A KEYBOARD TO INSTALL SOFTWARE

No thanks, i don't want that, do you ?

Ya I was there for the whole thing, all it is, is a big overhyped (thanks to xbox sites) TiVo clone, set top box that has NOTHING to do with xbox what so ever, we plan on releasing an xbox in version two, but due to hardware problems, we don't know when that will BE

In Summary, if you want a TiVo clone, you MIGHT want to Dreamix a look, but otherwise....forgetabout

btw, reminds me of that counsole, w/o cd drive, got games off the internet.....geez wish I could remember what it was called....

On another note..

In a few months..  we can buy TIVO/DVD player unit for less than $200, with network streaming in it.

or..

People can wait.. and pay 400$ for Dreamix.

Guess where I'm spending my money. Oh wait.. I forgot tha AIM shit.  now I won'yt get AIM spam. Damn.

Maybe I should spend the extra 200$

beerchug.gif

.. I remember when this was supposed to be an XBOX related project.. hence our continued coverage of it. muhaha.gif

fact: dreamix is not what they promised to be. fact: they used xbox news pages and xbox users to promote a product that has NOTHING to do with xbox. fact: it costs a shitload of money. fact: dreamix fucked with the people that were supposed to be customers. baaaad move.

fact: their slogan says it all and is a smack into the face of the xbox users.

"think outside the box".. cause you won't see it in your xbox.
