Samsung 120 Gb Hdd Question...
« on: May 19, 2003, 08:58:00 PM »

I expect probably one reply to this.  That Samsung 120GB HDD that's listed on the front page of the scene at $109 looks like a sweet deal.  Is it lockable?

:uhh:

I don't see where it says that on the front page, but I have two of the Samsung 120GB 5400RPM drives.  They locked fine and run great.  They can be had for like $94 shipped, too.

Ok, so I take it, since you have TWO of those drives, that you'd recommend them?  I know the samsung brand name usually means a pretty good quality, and the specs on those drives seem to be fine.

I'm doing my first mod with a friend this summer, but looking for the best deals when it comes to hardware.  By the way, where can you get one for $94 shipped?

Thanks!

They are locakable, and very quiet. Got mine at esystor.com for $97 (includes shipping). I would recommend a samsung drive, they work great.

I usually stay away from Samsung hardware, but I read good reviews about Samsung's hard drives specifically.  I've been very pleased with the hard drives so far.

best buy has a maxtor 120gb 7200rpm 2mb cache for only $80 after rebates.  Bought one today, installed it and its lockable.  Very quiet too.  Its sooo much nice having more than 10gb of hard drive space.

I'd bet you've got the jumpers set wrong.  You might want to make sure you're not set for the 32GB capacity limit.  Easy to do because the jumper diagrams are confusing.
