My Xbox boots up and then freezes when the unleashx screen dims.... When I put a game into the console the xbox does play the game and I can save and load saved games on my harddisk.  So I know the harddisk is working, at least i think but I cant get into the dashboard and find all my games!!!  Please help! Thanks <

What kind of mod do you have?  If you have a dual boot you can start your xbox with the dvd tray open and it should go to another dash.  From there you can ftp in and see whats up and replace files if you have to. <

Well I have the same problem. And I don't know what's up?? IT just loads up - dims at the X in the boot sequence and just does nothing.  I've replaced the files and got a new bios it just still doesn't work. <

Load up an installer disc (Evox or UnleashX will do fine). Then FTP to your box and make sure you have the proper files in the proper place. All you need for unleashx to run is its .xbe file and the config.xml on the root of drive C. If your bios is set to run evoxdash.xbe first, simply rename your unleashX .xbe to evoxdash.xbe. While you're at it you should ftp the config.xml to your compy and edit it with notepad to change some settings to your liking. Then ftp it back to your box. You should now be able to start your machine with UnleashX. If it doesn't work, you may have to find another copy of unleashX. ...usual places... <

WEll hello, I reinstalled it many times, and it doesnt work - I know how to set it all up but it is just hanging at the xbox boot screen. I've used different version of Unleash X, iI've tried the most recent ones and I've also tried older ones. It just tries to load and freeze, I just modded 3 xboxes with the almost same exact files as mine and they work fine? and its not the xbox either, i can take the other hard drives from the other xboxes and it works fine, I think what I'll have to do is reformat my hard drive. But I have all my games backed up on it and I don't want to have to go through all that time to back them up again. <

Don't feel bad.. I am in the same boat. over 10 xbox mods done and 1 comes back not working. Unleashx just stopped working. It will run any other dash I put on it but Unleashx will not run. mfg date 04-22-2002 with x2 2.6. I've formatted and that didn't work. using 4983 and tried 5028-5031 no luck there either. <

Yea I don't get it? seriously how can just UnleashX not work? I am using Avalaunch right now which I really don't like it - It doesnt have the look and feel of Unleashx. Hopefully it will work fine later. I have a 1.0 xbox with a SmartXX. What I really don't get is that it has worked for over a year?!?! <

Same here running Avalaunch. Even Evox runs fine. <

It sounds like you might suffer from the "corrupt xbe" bug. It happens when UnleashX is scanning through selected directories for xbe files to display in the menu, and one or more xbe files are corrupt or typically with a filesize of zero.

Try looking through your game directories and other places you make UnleashX scan for executables and check if there is a corrupt file.

This problem is fixed in the latest version of UnleashX. <

Just on a whim I had download the newest Unleashx and it worked. Don't know why my original or even the upgraded one didn't work. My upgraded one works like a charm on that Xbox...

Oh well... Good to have UnleashX back

UPDATE....

Back to square 1. Booted twice like normal and then nothing... This box can live with Avalaunch for now....

Hmn, this is weird.

Anyways, you may want to do a few things: Boot the xbox while pressing the "Back" button. You may want to rename config.xml to something else and reboot.

If possible, send me your config.xml and items.xml and I'll take a look.

I think it may be something along those lines...  because if I copy the config.xml file from the AutoInstallerDeluxe disk and use that then its fine I just found that out. But the thing is that file just has things like " Install Dashboard  " "Install Apps" but Slowly but surely I think I'll figure somehting out. <

Thanks for the offer but I already gave the Xbox back with Avalaunch on it. If I do get it back anytime soon I will send the files to you. <
