360 Game Trade Only Forum
« on: December 29, 2005, 11:28:00 AM »

I've been getting alot of PM's lately for a TRADE only forum. One dedicated to 360 Games. The idea being.. Joe#1 has 3 different 360 games he wants to straight up trade for other games. No cash. Bob#1 has 3 other games, same deal.

Joe sees that he likes one of BOB's games.. and vice versa.

They use the new forum like any other BST ofrum on XS.. but no cash.. just comuniocation.. and then cross ship.

What do you guys think?

the rules would be very limited.. and the forum would have a name in the area of GAMES SWAP shop or something.

I figure.. you guys are the active 360 buyers, sellers, and traders.. so I wanted to more directly ask about the interest level in a TRADE ONLY forum...

Post here in this topic please.

(there is just as much "risk" with a trade only forum as with any other bst type forum.. however, we figure is we take the money out of the equation, we can reduce half the bullshit posts in BST forums.. and have a solid area for game fans to simply trade straight. 1 game for 1 game, or two for one etc. )

FallsInc EDIT: (just to have this info in the first post)
http://www.heatware.com/ is a reference site, like ebay feedback, but is for forum sales. xbox-scene is already listed as a forum on the database too!
simply sign up for a free account, and when you make a sale, you request heat. it can be positive or negative. best part about it is, alot of people here already have it, it's just not used here very much

here is my heatware to help you get the idea...

I think it would be a good idea but then you would have to base it on refs for who ships first or cross shipping

I like the idea. Its a good way of getting a  different game when you have outplayed your old one.
The usual Buyer Beware would apply as in the BST section.

I like this idea. Sounds fairy simple and straight up. I can see alot of scamming going on but the same thing applies here I guess.

i like the idea, but would that only mean 360 game for 360 game? or would that be open to controller for game?  im guessing that the orginal 360 bst forum would be for that but if i were the person listing the game, and i didnt care if i got another controller or another game, where would i put that?

all in all, i think a game for game forum would be a great idea...

Mmm, gets my vote smile.gif I think it'd be a great way to get to try out new games/etc.. Obviosly, standard b/s/t rules would apply and trading would be based on Refs. IE, those with few/no refs should ship first to those with more refs, people with equally good refs can cross ship.. and if two people with few/no refs want to trade with each other.. well, that's at their own risk (As are all transactions really...)

I also think we need to implement some sort of ref system on the forums, even if it's just an additional field in our profile (with a longer character limit) as the current system of listing refs in our sigs... just doesn't really work.

Well sure, but not everyone has heat (and even those who do don't use it all the time *ahem* me.. tongue.gif).. I still think it'd be a good idea to have an "on site" place for refs.

There is no need for a profile field for refs, just put em in your sig  smile.gif
Most traders on this forum already have them there

seems silly to me.. we already have a buy/sell/TRADE forum.  If you make one specific to trading, you have to police all the people who don't just trade.. and you eliminate all the people who arent looking for a trade, but who would have traded or offered you a decent price for your games just because they don't go into the trade forum.

I already hate having separate forums for xbox and 360.. it's just selling.. most people here have some form of interest in both platforms, so it makes it more of a hassle for them to go to both forums now... and even more of a hassle if they are looking to trade/sell an item from one forum for an item in another forum.

As for the feedback/ref system - it'd be too hard to police.   People lie enough here. They'd just get their whole 3rd grade class to give them good feedback.  If you have some sort of ranking system, you cause people to trust those who have a decent ranking, without actually checking them out.  Instead, we should be reading up on peoples previous transactions, checking with those who have dealt with them, and getting enough info to make us feel comfortable (i.e. phone/email/address .. and VERIFY them!).. any system that bypasses that process is going to open people up to getting scammed
