Question About Boost Mode
« on: December 15, 2004, 07:02:00 PM »

I've read about this boost mode in UnleashX and that it should give me about 12 megabytes/second of data transfer.

I have it set to enabled and am only getting 0.4 megabytes/second.

I have assumed it is because I need an ftp client to support it.

What are the best boost mode ftp clients to work with unleashx?

Right now I'm using FTPCommander

Boost mode is somthing that Team Avalaunch created themselves so the only pc software that supports this is QUIX in the Avalaunch forum and another one I can't quite remember oh and I think the latest version of cbxtools does.  No commercial or third party ftp client support it yet as far as I know, since it was specifically made for the xbox by a third party team

And the above mentioned clients do not work like normal ftp they will only transfer dirs and iso's not individual files

I have downloaded Quix awhile ago for its ISO creations, never realized it was made for boost mode.

Do I need to change anything the Qwix config files for it to work with UnleashX?

I am currently modding Halo 2 maps. Does this mean I can just select the maps folder and have them xfer at the boost mode speed?

in the unleashx config.xml you need to have the following tag:
<SYST>UNIX emulation by Avalaunch 0.47.5</SYST>
or update it to say that in system/settings.

Qwix does not transfer individual files, only folders and images. So I don't believe you'll be able to transfer the .map files.

I have just tried that, It does 'work' but seems buggy.
Doesnt display the game icons (no big problem) also it doesnt seem to get all the game sizes correct e.g. it reckoned Halo2 was 349MB....

I use FlashFXP for individual files, I get a good 8+MB/sec transfer rate, C-XBox Tool apparently supports Boostmode if you feel you have to have it, That allows individual files

Actually C-XBox Tool is a very good program, I use it over Craxtion now. It seems more relaible for Multigame DVD's and it does things on the fly unlike Craxtion.
