it's about the same as replacing the memory.  not as easy as installing a modchip tho.  I've only done it twice and was successful both times.  Perplexer is the guru on this stuff, but i've sent chips to a bunch of people and they seemed to be successful installing them.  there is a nifty video somewhere on these forums on how to remove/install the ram chips..wish i could remember who did it to give them props, but a search of the forum should get you there.

You would only switch these out if the ethernet chip on your xbox stops functioning for whatever reason.  One of the most common ways to identify this is if the port itself has a constant amber light even when there is no network cable connected to the box.  This repair is not for the soldering impaired or noob smile.gif
