Linksys 2.4ghz 802.11b Router...
« on: June 21, 2003, 06:24:00 AM »

I got a question...im sure its rediculous...but help me out!

I just got a new Linksys 2.4 GHz wireless router...and I just hooked all the cables up and ive got an internet connection...great!

BUT...i cant use any of my P2P programs, cant accept UDP or TCP packets...im sure this is caused by my new router firewall...how can i set it up to accept these??? or set it up be able to use my P2P programs..."disable the firewall" if you will...

THANKS

When I goto my router config...I can choose a "Filter" tab and in that section I have the option to "Filter Private Port Range (0 to 65535)"  ...

then it gives you a numbered list 1-5....assumingly each port.

then option of either TCP/UDP/BOTH...

then it gives you a text field than "~" and another text field?

On port 1 or NUMBER 1, i put "0 to 65535" and at such time, i chose apply and after it set up again...I was unable to get online...or connect to the internet??

what am i doing wrong?

what model you have? seems like you are using a BEFW11S4 and with that model you shouldn't have to open individual ports...

I'm sure for your house you don't need a dmz... i keep that at 0.  Unless you know what your doing...
anyway... do you have enabled multicast?  think its in first page of setup maybe in advanced... bunch of radio buttons at bottom.
