Demos & Duplicates In Game Menu
« on: August 04, 2004, 10:22:00 AM »

I have recently moved from mordens v.3 with mxm to ude with mxm. I am very pleased except, my new mxm puts demo titles in the games list. The old mxm did not do this even though it was the same version. It must be a different action script or something. I have changed the automenu so that it "disables demos" and also disabled "show duplicates?" neither of these features have fixed my problem. I know that I can delete the folders on hard drive that contain demos, but this is not practicle and since I am not used to having to mess with it, it is quite annoying. thanks for any help!

You also have to "Rest Menu Cache" for it to take effect.

Thankfully, the next version will be much easier (no need for a menu cache)

Hmmmm... dunno why it's not preventing them from showing up, but there are two other things you can do... 1) delete the demo files (there's a thread on this forum detailing what files you can safely remove - I ran across it once doing a search) or 2) use an MXM_Entry.xml file in those directories to prevent MXM from searching for XBEs there (specifying the default.xbe only)

I have played with this problem and I am 90% sure that none of my "auto menu" controls work. What would cause this?

I have had the same problem to. The menuitem "remove demos xbes" don't work for me.

So as a last resort I deleted the demos and freed up some space  :P

"AutoMenu" applies only when you do not have your own menu.xml defined or entries listed in mxm.xml.

How could I get the dash to use its built in autoconfig menu, while still using my mxm.xml?

Well, these options are availabe when using "Autodir" entries:

nodemo="true" and defaultonly="true"

Use them like the recurse and flatten attributes.
