My Vision Of The Ui And System Menu

Yeah see what I invision, is under the network settings in the Y configure menu you can set your IP DNS and stuff under network and add all the FTP options(which can be edited there with built-in keyboard).

In the skins and Misc. Settings, have that changed to be named just Skin Settings, where you can set your skins path along with the other things in there having to do with skins.

In the music and sound,  you can set it to play M$ dash ripped music, a folder of wma's(MP3's in the future) or both and set your folder for the music there.

Instead of DVD drive menu name that Preferences and have all the preferences that were under that there but add menu caching option and xbox nickname(which can be edited) to that and the synchronize clock and time server.

Then add a new menu option in the main Y menu called Utilities. In here you would find the file manager, game save manager, menu creator, maybe flattspots entry maker, flash bios(in future), DVD copier, menu manager, EEPROM and BIOS backup, instead of them being in the main Y button menu you could also add the reboot and power off and power cycle commands here to shorten the length of options in the main menu and whatever else is needed in this menu (not much I suppose I covered most everything this menu needs…

Anyways, this I believe would cover everything in an organized fashion, and of course, you could link to the things such as the preferences menu or just the menu changer, from your menu..

So you could have
CODE

Utilities

File Manager
filemanager

DVD to Xbox
dvdcopier

Network Settings
network

And so on and so on….

Now then for a DVD-R, obviously a lot of the stuff in he internal.xml that would hold all this stuff could be removed to optimize the file size and speed, the ability to remove what they wish would also be great, such as a tag for the mxm.xml that removes certain things like for the overrides section you could have <ftp>false</ftp> which would stop MXM from loading the FTP server, and other optimizations like that…

Anyways, that’s my rant folks, hope you enjoyed your stay, and be sure to pick up a $2 off coupon for your next visit located near the exits.... biggrin.gif

Well, yes, all configuration options will be available.

I was thinking ti would be nice to have two modes of setup - the detailed, "everything acccessable" set of menus, and a much simpler wizard-mode set up that holds the user's hand and explains things in detail.

Perhaps there's even different wizards, for each section.

While I feel a bit daunted at the sheer number of possibilities and amount of work, I feel that you guys will be able to really contribute a lot in a short time to making this all happen. I'll be here to fill in the details and make changes needed to make anything you guys dream up possible (within reason).

Tonight: Image control, Dialog captions, and lots of stuff cleaned up.

Edit control overdraw is a bit more involved to fix.... but I'm also incorporating the required code to handle multi-line editing, too.   <

Well my vision is similar. There's lots of creativity with ActionScripting, anything is possible (um, within reason).  <

Well if G-Dub (geniusalz),  gets that dialog maker done I can contribute something I hope, like I said though, I have more ideas and know how I want things to work, but I know not how to make them work...  took 2 hours just to get the freakin testdialog.xml to work...  YuYu+MXM Actionscripting = blink.gif

Hey YuYu. You started making your own dialogs yet? Having trouble getting the controls lined up right like I was way back when?  <

Actually no, I am studying for mid terms right not and jsut would like a tool like that to streamline the process... If you read my whole first post you can see what I would love to do, but I'm afraid my actionscripting abilities limit waht I can actually do, but if someone does not make something I want in my list up top, you can be damn sure, I'll do it myself till I get it right..... cool.gif

I know what you mean. I have to look at other scripts all the time to see how stuff works. I'm learning as I go.  <
